Low molecular (1→3)-glucans in general inhibits the activation of factor G in the coagulation cascade. High molecular (1→3)-glucans (molecular weight >58,100 corresponding to >359 consecutive (1→3)-ß-D-glucans) is a potent activator of the coagulation cascade [2].

Activates the classical and alternative pathways of complement (CPC and APC respectively), the single helix activates better than the triple helix [3].
