Mannan

Chemical properties

Type 2: The core in the lipopolysaccharide lipoarabinomannan (LAM) which is considered the major antigen of mycobacterial cell walls. LAM from Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibit a wide variety of biological activities such as suppression of T lymphocyte proliferation, inhibition of g-interferon-mediated activation of murine macrophages and immunomodulation of a large array of macrophage cytokines [1].

Type 4: Crystallographic data [7].

Behavior with other polymers

Type 2: No specific adhesion to cellulose has been observed [8]. No signicantly adhesion (<5%) to curdlan has been observed [9].
